What a HeyLocals trip looks like for uni students

Going abroad with HeyLocals as a uni student means stepping out of the classroom and putting your skills, curiosity, and adaptability to work in the real world.

You'll join social, educational, environmental, or community projects that are already running, working with local teams and other international volunteers.

Activities are mainly in the morning, useful, educational, and matched to the local context.

Afternoons are for cultural exchange, exploring the area, and community life. Good for building connections and seeing things from new angles.

Everything's set up so you can focus: accommodation included, local support, and carefully chosen projects.

For many activities you can apply for university credits (CFU).

FAQs

Nope. Most students show up with zero experience. Activities are explained on-site and you're supported by the local team.
Not necessarily. You can pick a project based on your interests or the experience you're after, even if it's not linked to your degree.
Yes. Plenty of students travel solo. On the ground you'll meet other international volunteers and the local team, you're never actually alone.
Credit recognition is between you and your university (lecturer, tutor, academic office), following your degree's rules. At the end of the experience we give you a certificate showing the project and the volunteering hours, which you submit to the uni.
Yes. Activities are mainly in the morning. Afternoons and days off are yours for free time, exploring, and locally organised extras. You'll hang out with other volunteers, join excursions, and actually experience the destination, always within the project's rules.
