Learn from the community, every day
Living and working inside the centre puts you in direct contact with families, teachers and children, picking up the customs, timings and values of rural Kenyan life.

From Monday to Friday, your days mostly happen at the Ahero Community Resource Centre kindergarten, alongside the local teachers in educational activities and looking after children aged 3 to 6.
Activities include classroom support, educational games, creative moments and helping out at mealtimes. The afternoon is usually lighter, with tidying spaces, time to chat with the staff or moments of community life. The rest of the day is for resting, spending time with the other volunteers and getting on with daily life at the centre.
Weekends are free of set activities. A good time to slow down, explore around or just settle into the area informally. If you fancy it, you can visit Kisumu, spend time at the local markets, head around Lake Victoria, or stay at the centre to rest and socialise.

Walk along the lake shore, watch the fishermen at work, and get a feel for one of the most important places in the region's economy and culture.
