About section

A day centre welcomes children from all walks of life every day, providing them with a safe environment where they can learn, play and feel supported.

In Seoul, many children spend their days at educational centres that become a vital anchor in their lives — especially when their families cannot provide all the support they need. In these spaces, they find not only assistance, but also opportunities for growth, learning and socialisation.

This project exists to strengthen these centres, bringing meaningful, hands-on support to daily activities and English learning. As a volunteer, you'll be part of their journey: working alongside staff in lessons, leading games and creative activities, and helping create a positive, nurturing environment. It's an experience that lets you give your time and energy to children while discovering Korean culture through genuine exchange.

🧭 Orientation day

Your Seoul journey begins with a day designed to help you discover the city, understand the programme and learn how to move confidently between ancient temples and ultramodern skyscrapers 🏙️

On the first Monday, you'll take part in several guided activities led by the local team:

• Welcome meeting and introduction to the programme and house rules
• Practical advice on health, safety and cultural behaviour in South Korea
• Introduction to Korean culture with useful phrases in the language and insights into local customs and habits
• Seoul City Tour: you'll discover iconic landmarks such as Gyeongbokgung and Jongmyo Shrine, to instantly grasp the unique combination of modernity and tradition
• Useful tips on transport, local SIM cards and neighbourhood services
• If you'd like to arrive with internet already set up, you can purchase an eSIM before departure through Airalo

As well as discovering the city, it's a great chance to break the ice with the other participants, share your reasons for being here and build a group spirit from day one 💬

📌 After orientation

From Tuesday you'll begin your project activities: from the very first day you'll have all the tools you need to make the most of your Korean experience.
✈️ Arrival recommendations for Seoul

To start your experience on the right foot, we recommend booking your flight to arrive at Incheon International Airport (ICN) on Sunday between 10:00 and 17:00. During this time window our welcome service is active: a member of our staff will be waiting at the meeting point with a sign.

If you arrive outside these hours or on a different day, don't worry: you can reach the accommodation independently by public transport (Airport Railroad to Hongik University Station, about 45 minutes, then 6 minutes on foot) or book a private pick-up for an additional fee. In any case, please share your flight details with us as soon as you book so we can coordinate your arrival as smoothly as possible.

On arrival you may need to wait for other participants before the group departs, so we ask for a little patience. If for any reason you don't spot our staff straight away, stay at the meeting point — we'll find each other. After your booking is confirmed you'll receive a document with emergency contacts and all the detailed instructions.

🚖 Departure recommendations

At the end of the project, check-out from the accommodation is by 11:00 on Saturday. The return transfer to the airport is not included in the programme. You can easily reach Incheon (ICN) in about 1 hour by Airport Railroad, at a cost of around €3. If you prefer, the local team can help you book a taxi or private transfer, which can also be shared with other volunteers.

We recommend booking your return flight for Saturday afternoon or evening so you can leave the accommodation at a comfortable pace and reach the airport without rushing.

🗓️ Extending your trip

If you plan to continue your journey in Korea or other Asian countries, let us know — we'll be happy to share practical tips to help you make the most of your onward travels.

💡 After confirmation

Once your participation is confirmed, you'll receive a complete document by email with all updated logistical information, your local coordinator's contact details and emergency instructions.
