About section

A hands-on experience that lets you observe Vietnamese clinical practice up close and understand how healthcare is delivered in a completely different cultural context.

In Ho Chi Minh, healthcare is a world in constant motion: busy hospitals, growing new departments, and an approach to care that blends modern medicine with traditional practices. Into this environment, students and young professionals from abroad bring curiosity, fresh perspectives, and new energy — contributing to an exchange that enriches everyone involved.

This programme offers a genuine clinical observation experience: you'll follow doctors and nurses through consultations, treatments, and ward rounds, learn about local procedures, and gain an understanding of how medicine works within a very different cultural context. At times you may also assist with basic activities, such as triage, simple dressings, or measuring vital signs, always under staff supervision.

Beyond the hospital, you'll have the opportunity to take part in community health education initiatives, observe traditional medicine practices, and discover how Vietnamese culture shapes the relationship between patients and care. An intense, stimulating journey that helps you grow both as a future professional and as a person.

The Weekly Program

Weekdays

From Monday to Friday, your days are spent mainly at the hospital — observing clinical work, shadowing local doctors and therapists, and rotating through different departments.

In the afternoon, after the extended lunch break that is typical in Vietnamese hospitals, you'll continue with lighter clinical activities or use the time for study, preparation, and discussions with the local team. At certain times of year you may also take part in community health education initiatives.

📌 After Orientation

From Tuesday you'll begin your hospital placement with greater confidence, having already met the coordinators, your fellow volunteers, and the local context.
✈️ Arrival Information

For your arrival, book a flight to Tan Son Nhat International Airport (SGN), Ho Chi Minh City's main airport. Our welcome service is available Saturday and Sunday from 06:00 to 21:30: during this window, the local coordinator will be waiting at the designated meeting point.

📍 Meeting Point

After collecting your luggage, head to the main arrivals corridor and look for our coordinator holding a sign reading "The Green Lion" or your name. If you don't spot them right away, wait at post no. 03 — they will come to you. Do not leave the area.

🕒 Transfer Time

Airport → accommodation: approx. 20 minutes by taxi.

💡 Arrivals Outside Opening Hours

If you arrive after 21:30 or outside the weekend window, you can request a paid special pick-up service or make your own way to the residence by taxi (5–7 USD) or via the Grab app.

🧭 If You Can't Find Our Staff

Stay at the meeting point and call the emergency numbers provided in your welcome email. Traffic in Ho Chi Minh can cause delays — it's perfectly normal to wait a few minutes.

🚖 Departure Information

Check-out is on Saturday by 12:00. Return transfer is not included, but the team will help you book a taxi or reach the nearest bus station.

🗓️ Continuing Your Journey

If you'd like to continue exploring Vietnam — the Mekong Delta, Da Lat, Nha Trang, Hanoi — the local team will be happy to offer tips and practical advice.

You'll receive a detailed guide with up-to-date instructions, useful contacts, and everything you need for a stress-free arrival.
