About section

In Hua Hin, community life revolves around schools, temples, and shared spaces that are often in constant need of upkeep.

Families do their best, but without outside help it becomes difficult to keep these spaces safe and welcoming.

This project was created to turn small gestures into meaningful results: a wall repainted, a classroom renovated, a piece of furniture repaired. Every intervention improves daily life for the people who live here and becomes an opportunity for collaboration.

Taking part means living a hands-on experience, where the greatest satisfaction is seeing change happen right before your eyes, shared with the local community.

FAQs

🌞 Your accommodation in Hua Hin

You'll stay at Sunshine House or, alternatively, at Paradee House. Both are located in quiet neighbourhoods, yet close to the town centre with easy access to shops, markets, and local amenities. Comfortable, practical, and with shared spaces to relax and get to know other volunteers.

🏡 The facilities

Sunshine House: shared rooms (4–12 beds), air conditioning, shared bathrooms, and common areas with a swimming pool and garden.
Paradee House (subject to availability): private rooms with en-suite bathroom, fridge, kettle, and access to a smaller pool.
Both options include lockable rooms, personal lockers, and everything you need to feel at home.

🍽️ Meals

Included: 3 meals a day on weekdays and 2 on weekends. Home-cooked, vegetarian-friendly food featuring Thai dishes (rice, noodles, vegetables, fruit). The town also has plenty of restaurants and street food stalls if you fancy a change.

🛏️ Included services

Shared rooms (Sunshine) or private rooms (Paradee, if available)
3 meals on weekdays, 2 on weekends
• Free drinks: water, tea, coffee
Swimming pool and common areas to unwind
Lockers and lockable rooms
Air conditioning in the room
24/7 support from the local team

📶 Wi-Fi, linen & laundry

Towels are not provided (bed linen is). Laundry is available for a fee, or you can hand-wash. Wi-Fi is available in common areas, though it can be slow — for hassle-free connectivity, consider a local SIM or an eSIM via Airalo before you leave.

💦 Life at the houses

A dip in the pool, a shared recipe, a chat in the evening — the accommodation becomes part of the experience: rest, connection, and memories to last a lifetime.
🛡️ Safety and support

In Hua Hin, your safety comes first 🌞 We only work with trusted local facilities, constantly monitored by our team, to give you a smooth experience both during work and in your free time.

🔹 Participant screening and safe environments
Every volunteer is required to provide a criminal background check before departure. We'll guide you through the process step by step — it's a simple formality that ensures peace of mind for you, the other participants, and the community welcoming us.

🔹 High safety standards
• Construction activities always supervised by experienced coordinators
• Clear instructions and safe tools for every participant
• Accommodation with lockable rooms and personal lockers
• Safe residential areas, close to shops and medical centres

🔹 24-hour support
The local team is always available — including evenings and weekends — for any questions or unexpected situations. And if you need us, we're also reachable via WhatsApp at any time 📲

🔹 Training and orientation
On your first day, you'll receive comprehensive training: worksite safety, best practices for teamwork, and cultural guidelines for respectful interaction with the local community.

🔹 Best practices for a smooth experience
✔ Wear appropriate footwear and clothing during work activities.
✔ Use only the tools indicated by the coordinators.
✔ Avoid going out alone at night or in isolated areas.
✔ Always follow the guidance of the local team.

💡 Our goal
To provide you with a safe, welcoming, and stimulating environment — so you can focus on what really matters: collaborating, growing, and living an authentic experience in the heart of Thailand 🇹🇭
🧭 Orientation day

In Hua Hin, we start with a full day dedicated entirely to you: the goal is to help you settle in, understand how local life works, and feel part of the group from day one.

On Monday, together with the local team, you'll have a relaxed but comprehensive introduction to your new world:

• Welcome meeting and programme overview
• Practical tips on health, safety, and best practices for working outdoors
• Introduction to Thai culture, with anecdotes and basic Thai phrases
• Local customs and etiquette: what to do, what to avoid, and how to get around respectfully
• Guided tour of the area with useful stops (supermarkets, transport, medical centres, key landmarks)
• Guidance on buying a local SIM card, or the option to set up an eSIM in advance via Airalo

Beyond the practical info, it's also a great opportunity to meet the other volunteers, share your motivations, and start feeling part of the community 💛

📌 Starting Tuesday, it's time to get to work!

From Tuesday, you'll dive into the construction and renovation activities, side by side with the local community.
✈️ Arrival recommendations

To start your experience on the best possible note, we recommend booking a flight arriving at Bangkok – Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) on Sunday, ideally between 06:00 and 16:00. During this time window, our welcome and transfer service to Hua Hin is active.

If you arrive on Saturday, you will need to book an extra night at our accommodation (with a surcharge).

If you arrive after 16:00, we can still arrange the transfer, but with a small surcharge, or you can make your own way to the accommodation.

If your flight lands at Don Mueang Airport (DMK), you will need to travel independently to Suvarnabhumi (BKK), as all pickups depart exclusively from there.

Please send us your flight details as soon as you book, so we can reserve your bus ticket and arrange your welcome.

📍 Meeting Point

The meeting point is at Level 2, Gate 3 at Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK). A member of our staff will be waiting for you with a sign. 👉 If you can't find them straight away, stay put — the team will come to you. Do not make your own way.

🧳 Luggage

Your included bus ticket covers up to 20 kg. If you have extra luggage, you may need to pay a small surcharge (reimbursable up to 50 kg upon showing the receipt to the local staff).

🕑 Journey time to Hua Hin

The journey from the airport to Hua Hin takes approximately 4–5 hours (including bus and local transfer). You may share the ride with other participants arriving at the same time.

🚖 Departure recommendations

Check-out from the accommodation is by 12:00 on Saturday. The return transfer to the airport is not included, as participants leave at very different times. However, our staff will be happy to help you book a taxi or a shared bus.

We recommend booking your return flight on Saturday evening or Sunday morning, so you can leave the accommodation at a relaxed pace and reach the airport without rushing. If you plan to continue travelling in Thailand (e.g. Bangkok, islands, or other cities), let us know in advance — our team will give you practical tips on organising your onward journey.

💡 After confirmation

Once your participation is confirmed, you will receive an updated document by email with all the practical information and emergency contacts.
