See everyday community life
Working with the local staff every day, you'll get a real feel for the people of Ahero, sharing rhythms, spaces and moments of real life.

From Monday to Friday, your days mostly happen at the Ahero Community Resource Centre, on the community farm and the centre's growing areas. The work is hands-on and physical: working in the fields, looking after crops, supporting the poultry unit and maintaining shared spaces.
Because of the warm climate, the activities are mostly in the cooler hours of the day. The afternoon is usually for resting, community life or informal moments to chat with the local staff and the other participants.
Weekends are free of set activities. A good time to slow down, recharge and take in the area informally. If you fancy it, you can visit Kisumu, head around Lake Victoria, get out into nature, or just stay at the centre and spend time with the community.

Explore this lakeside city, the local markets and the lakeside areas, taking in the contrast between urban life and rural Ahero.
