About section

A farming project in a rural Kenyan community where you work closely with local staff, learning sustainable agricultural practices and experiencing the daily life of the community resource centre.

In Ahero, at the heart of Kisumu County, the Community Resource Centre was established to strengthen the self-reliance of the local community through agriculture, education and skills-sharing. Here, the land is not just a resource — it is a teaching tool: crops are grown to feed, to learn, and to pass on knowledge that will be useful for generations to come.

The farming project places you within a model farm featuring vegetable gardens, greenhouses and a poultry unit, used both for production and for training local residents. As a participant, you will work side by side with local staff in the day-to-day activities: planting, crop care, maintenance and support for agricultural initiatives. A concrete experience that teaches you the value of manual work, natural rhythms and genuine collaboration.

The Weekly Program

Weekdays

Monday to Friday, days are spent mainly at the Ahero Community Resource Centre, within the community farm and the agricultural areas of the centre. Activities are practical and hands-on: field work, crop care, support for the poultry unit and maintenance of shared spaces.

Due to the warm climate, activities are concentrated in the cooler parts of the day. Afternoons are generally dedicated to rest, community life or informal exchanges with local staff and fellow participants.
